Details & Faq's

common questions and answers

  • Where are you based?

Katie and I are located in Newburgh, Indiana. Yes, I know... we have a 773 area code. After college, and before we married, Katie and I lived in Chicago for 6 years before moving back to our hometown.

  • How long have you been in business?

Photorexit Photography was established in 2005.

  • Do you work as a team?

Absolutely! All of our commissions include both Katie and myself ( Jason ).  We've worked as a team since 2007. When we're not shooting together, we're divided to conquer!

  • Pricing, Coverage, and travel?

Our rates and collections are not listed for a few reasons. First, rates and collections vary by location, as some area's require travel, which is not included in our local rate. Destination weddings rates vary as well. Second, we often create custom collections for many of our clients,  which are based on their own specific photography needs.  If you would like more info on detailed pricing, simply give us a ring, or shoot over a email, we would love to hear more about your wedding plans and specific photography needs!

  • What is your payment schedule?

To secure your date, a booking retainer of 1/3 of the package selected / created is required along with a signed wedding contract. The remaining balance is due two weeks prior to the wedding date.

  • How long does it take before we receive our products and photographs?

Online galleries are posted within six weeks of the wedding date, digital files are also released during this time.  Upon final approval of album designs, most albums are ready for delivery within 8-10 weeks.

  • Do you Edit all of our

Yes we do! We hand select each image, one at a time, giving careful consideration to narrative and aesthetics. Special consideration is given to each image rather than batching out images in bulk groups.

  • High-res / Watermarks?

All images are delivered digitally as high-resolution files with no watermarks.

  • How many images will we receive?

The number of photographs taken depends on many things - the length of the event and hours of coverage, the number of guests, hours of dancing, and so forth. Our collections generally produce 500+ hand selected  images. Still have questions, we would love to hear more about your wedding plans, so that we can give a better estimate and explanation.

  • are we able to print our

    own images?

Yes, while we retain the copyright to all the images we create, we do allow you to print images at a lab of your choice. A print and distribution release statement is included in the contract allowing you to print and distribute images as you see fit.

  • do we receive the raw, unedited images?

The raw, unedited files are not made available. Please rest assure the images selected for editing and final delivery reflect the very best images from the wedding day. We shoot a lot, and therefore there are many duplicate images - images with intermediate expressions, eyes closed, ect. These files are not archived and therefore made available to our clients. Asking for these files is like asking a restaurant to bring you the leftover ingredients used to make your dinner!

  • what is the "online gallery

    with cloud storage"?

The online gallery is a private, password protected section of our website where all of your photographs will appear. You have the option of downloading all the high-res images, sharing images via social media, and ordering prints. Additionally, your high resolution image collection is archived in the cloud for a period of 10 years.

  • When should we book you for

    our wedding?

Since we are only available for a limited amount of dates each year, we can not hold dates, or "pencil you in". Most of our wedding commissions are booked 12 months in advance with some bookings more than 1.5 - 2 calendar years in advance, and some  a few months prior.  It's easy to predict the popular dates, but not necessarily when those will fill up.

  • do you provide video services

     as well?

We do not offer video services, but are more than happy to recommend a few companies.

  • What type of equipment do

    you use?

Our collection of lenses: Canon EF 24mm 1.4 L USM II, Canon EF 16-35mm 2.8 L  USM II, Canon EF 50mm 1.2 L USM, Canon EF 70-200mm 2.8 L IS USM , (2) Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8 L  USM , Canon Macro EF 100mm 2.8 L IS USM . • When do you start the day?

In short, the same time you do! Almost every wedding begins with hair and make-up coverage. We've started as early as 7am, coffee in hand and ready to go!

  • Do you take Formal portraits?

We do take the traditional posed family photo's, and If you didn't see them in the gallery, it's because there not there. Formal photo's are always apart of the wedding day, and we're more than happy to capture those for you, we just chose to showcase the larger majority / style of photography we're commissioned to create. We do, however, appreciate the value of the traditional family portrait, and with every wedding / family being unique, we'll discuss with you how much time is spent on traditional groups.

Made with love for great people.
